On Friday May 13th the students of Culinary Arts had the pleasure to welcome Chef Xoliswa Ndoyiya “Xoli”. Chef Xoli was Nelson Mandela’s personal chef for more than 20 years. During her visit to RSTA/CRLS Chef Xoli shared great stories of her journey to becoming a chef, what inspires her and the interesting way in which she became Mr. Mandela’s personal chef. Chef Xoli also took time to demonstrate several of Mr. Mandela’s favorite recipes from her cookbook Ukutya Kwasekhaya “Home Cooking”. Chef Xoli was in Cambridge not only to promote her cookbook but also working with South Africa Partners of Boston to bring awareness to better outcomes for millions of babies and young children from under-resourced communities in South Africa. It was a wonderful experience for all.
