Cambridge Compact for a Sustainable Future Logo Contest

Students in the Creative Design class recently competed in the Cambridge Compact for a Sustainable Future Logo contest sponsored by Cambridge Compact.org spearheaded by Casey Hanson. Every member who signs the Compact agrees to, “work to create broader collaboration among themselves and with other community partners in order to leverage the combined capacities in research, teaching, innovation, entrepreneurship, and program development” to “create a more healthy, livable, and sustainable Cambridge.” The Cambridge Compact focuses on several different categories related to sustainability such as, Building Energy Efficiency, Climate Change Mitigation and Preparedness Planning, Renewable Energy Systems, Sustainable Transportation, Waste Management (recycling, composting and waste reduction), Water Management, Urban Natural Resources, Public Information and Education, Green Tech Incubation and Promotion.

The logo contest guidelines included a professional logo geared towards a target audience of the Cambridge Community. The logo that embodies a unique business-city government-academic collaboration that addresses challenges to sustainability in Cambridge. The logo should reflect sustainability as a whole and not convey one effort (e.g., recycling, CO2 emissions). The winning logo has the potential to appear on Compact's website, internal materials, social media, outreach materials. Logo will be reproduced in various sizes for the website, letterhead, brochure, social, etc. The Compact will post an article about the winner and his/her design, if they would like to be featured on our website. Runner-ups will also be acknowledged in the a rticle.The judging was based on originality and adherence to contest guidelines which included designing a simple and clean logo that is bold and energetic but not cluttered.
