Creative Design Students Win 2020 Scholastic Art Awards

The Creative Design class earned nine individual winning keys that include one Senior Portfolio Award. Established in 1923, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S. The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA), in partnership with the Boston Globe is pleased to be among the more than 100 Regional Affiliates for the Awards in the United States. Our region, the nation's largest, serves the entire state of Massachusetts. Open to students from grades 7–12, The Scholastic Art Awards are the nation's longest-running, largest, most prestigious recognition program for creative teenagers in the visual and literary arts. The Awards identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent. 340,000 original works were entered this year in 29 different categories of art and writing. Work is judged on originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal voice or vision. All work is judged blindly, without knowledge of the student's gender, age or school.

There was an enormous volume of work to be judged in our region. The judges base their decisions on the three criteria:
