The Special Start Program is a CPS special education preschool program that has been around for approximately 30+ years. We serve children ages 3-5 years and their families. Children with disabilities are educated alongside their non-disabled peers. The classrooms implement high-quality instruction in a language-based, hands-on, multi-sensory curriculum to aid in the child’s growth and development. We have almost 200 students in 16 classrooms across 7 schools in the district, and in the community and community preschools. Staff comprises OTs, PTs, speech therapists, special education teachers, psychologists, behavior specialist, paraprofessionals, and other administrative staff.
