The Hive (Makerspace) Logo Design Contest

Students in the Creative Design class recently competed in a Live Work Contest for The Hive. The Hive is the new STEAM makerspace at the Main Library and is slated to open to the public this summer. The Hive consists of a digital fabrication lab stocked with digital and traditional equipment and tools for making, including laser cutters, 3D printers, sewing and embroidery machines, hand tools, and more. The Hive Logo Contest design guidelines were developed by Em St. Germain and Damon Avent and they offered clear direction and focus for the students to design a modern, contemporary, minimalist vibe, with an emphasis on community (rather than busy bee or worker bee), focusing on hive being the hub and place to gather and creatively work.
The Logo Contest winners are:
Anita Cuddihy - Senior, First Place
Jean Altidor - Junior, Second Place
Alexander Liebson - Junior, Third Place
Priya Landrigan - Senior, Fourth Place
Sharmin Hoq - Junior, Honorable Mention
Evan Garvey - Sophomore, Honorable Mention
