Early Education and Care

About the Program
The Early Education & Care (EEC) program offers a series of courses aimed at preparing students to become early childhood educators and/or caregivers. The content of the courses are based on the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education Frameworks for EEC. Reading of textbooks, on-site and video observations of children from birth to age 8, and real-life experiences with the materials young children learn from are featured in the program. Through partnerships with the CRLS Child Care Program “First Steps” and other local early childhood education programs, students in EEC courses learn how to understand children at the various stages of growth and ways to support their learning of cognitive and social skills.
