Recently the students in RSTA's Creative Design class recently competed to design a logo for the "The Word" led by Media Journalism teacher, Angelica Brisk. The contest guidelines were straightforward to design a logo for CRLS's The Word which would not only represent the students producing the program but also the CRLS students consuming The Word. The students in Media Journalism felt strongly that it was time to solidify The Word's
standing on campus and up the production quality of the show. They also
wanted to increase visibility of the show across platforms.
Key to making this a reality we wanted to establish a series logo
that would express professionalism, creativity, and include the falcon.
Ms. Brisk noted, "This was an authentic project inspired by student
goals to improve their programs. In the real world TV producers rely
heavily on designers to create visual elements that make a show pop."
The final design needed to be something that would work with a variety
of video material since The Word aims to cover many different
topics through out the year and each semester students create a new
open. The judging was based on originality and adherence to logo
guidelines. The winning students' work will used in the upcoming
episodes of The Word and also used in any promotional materials.
