Exclusively for seniors who have passed MCAS and are enrolled in a Level 3 CVTE program of study at RSTA.
As seniors, students who have completed technical competencies
equivalent to at least oneand one-half years of full time study in their
technical area, and satisfy stringent academic andattendance standards,
can apply for the privilege of participating in Cooperative Education.
Students’ training continues in paid, school-time assignments with a
local business and ismonitored by qualified, on-site professionals, the
Cooperative Education Instructor and their RSTA technical teacher.
Eligibility criteria for student enrollment in the RSTA Cooperative Education Program are as follows:
- Enrolled in a Level 3 CVTE program (the satisfactory completion of at least one and one-half years in a CVTE Program)
- Signed Cooperative Education Agreement by the enrolling student and his/her parent/guardian.
- Satisfactory completion of all appropriate safety instructions
- Signed recommendations from their Level 3 CVTE teacher/s
- Earned a grade of B or better in their current technical course
- Passed both Math and ELA MCAS tests
- Earned a grade of C or better in all current core academic courses
- (English/Language Arts, Math, Science & Social Studies)
- No current Attendance Violation Failures (AVF’s) in any course
- Compliance with the attendance and tardiness policy in the CRLS Student Handbook
- OSHA certified
- Completed Cooperative Education Employment Permit
Businesses and employers in the Cambridge area who are interested in
partnering with the Cambridge Public Schools as a Cooperative Education
