About the Program
The Health Assisting Program is designed to allow students to
acquire knowledge and skills in various health care fields. The
curriculum is anatomy and science based and is aligned with the
Massachusetts Department of Education Frameworks Health Assisting.
Emphasis is placed on developing work related skills as well as
developing professional and interpersonal skills. The program includes a
component that prepares students to be Certified Nursing Assistants
(CNA), and is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The major goal of the program is for students to become aware of the
roles and responsibilities of health assistants as active members of the
health care team. Training for the program occurs in a variety of
settings from the classroom laboratory to local health care facilities.
Two major features of this program are:
- Internships in Clinical Settings
- Cooperative Education opportunities for qualified Level 3 students.
