Distance Learning at RSTA

To RSTA Students, Families & Caregivers,

I am hoping that during these uncertain times that you all are safe and healthy.

Until our school reopens, teachers are expected to connect with students in their classes via one or more of the available tools for remote communication available to CPS staff and most of our students. Teachers will be sending to their students assignments and activities related to their courses for students to complete. Most RSTA teachers use Google Classroom, but some may have used other tools to connect with students. Please check your Google Classroom or other site; if you haven’t heard from your RSTA teacher, please email me at [email protected].

Although much of the regular curriculum in RSTA courses is “hands-on,” there remain many learning activities and opportunities for expanding & refining understanding in our Career & Technical Education and Business Education programs that support RSTA course objectives for student learning.

In the coming weeks, RSTA teachers will provide activities designed to enhance and enrich the many Safety, Technical & Employability competencies that make up the heart of RSTA courses. Students will be expected to complete the assignments and activities provided by their teachers & submit them to their teachers in a timely manner, and teachers will be expected to provide meaningful feedback to each student to insure all learners can demonstrate their knowledge & skills.

Students should freely ask their teachers for clarity of expectations or further assistance with any assignment. Teachers are expected to check in on their students daily to support student learning and to encourage class participation and camaraderie.

Wishing you all stay safe and healthy until we return to school together.
