Career & Technical Education Programs Available through CPS and S.O.L.V.E.D.

The Cambridge Public School District partners with four other area school districts that are part of the Shore Education Collaborative to form a program called S.O.L.V.E.D. (Shore Occupational Learning Vocational Education Division), a voluntary organization dedicated to offering Career & Technical Education (CTE) opportunities to students enrolled in our schools.

View a listing of the Chapter 74-approved CTE programs that are offered through S.O.L.V.E.D. and the schools where those programs are offered.

The opportunities for CTE programs of study are open to students who are members of the collaborative and are on a space available basis; in all cases, local resident students have access priority over non-resident students. Students who are denied access for any reason to a selected program may make a timely application for the same program in another school.

We have arranged to allow any CRLS students who wish to consider any of these other CTE programs to visit the schools that offer it. Arrangements for visiting one or more of the other school can be arranged by contacting the RSTA Director. Students are also encouraged to contact the CTE Administrators, or the official websites, of any school in which they may be interested, for detailed information on Open Houses or visits.

Cambridge students who wish to enroll in a CTE program at one of the other schools beginning in grade 10 are reminded that they will have to enroll as a full time student at that school for as long as they are enrolled in the CTE program there. Also, if they no longer are enrolled in a CTE program at that school, they must return to CRLS. Cambridge students are not allowed to enroll in a program at a S.O.L.V.E.D. school that is currently offered at RSTA.

Cambridge residents who are interested in applying for admission to a specific Chapter 74 approved program outside of Cambridge for which Cambridge may or may not be required to pay tuition, must submit a completed Admissions Application to the School which offers the chosen Chapter 74 programs by March 15, and a Non-Resident Tuition Application to the Cambridge Superintendent by April 1 of the calendar year in which the student intends to enroll in that specific program.

Cambridge residents who are considering specific CTE programs not currently offered at CLRS/RSTA or through SOLVED are encouraged to contact the Executive Director of the Rindge School of Technical Arts before completing the Non-Resident Tuition Application by calling the RSTA Office at CRLS 617.349.7782 as soon as possible.
